Chiswell
Due to continuing large waves and long swell period the Flood Warning for Chiswell will remain in force for today’s and tonight’s high tide. The times of peak water for which these Flood Warnings are in force are: 12 midday and 10:45 pm. The recent event damage to the flood defences and reduced profile of the beach may increase the risk of flooding. Further stormy weather is forecast Friday through to Sunday. At the onset of sea water overtopping the beach, conditions will be very dangerous. Please ensure that large items, such as wheelie-bins, are tied down and that vehicles are moved away from areas behind the defences. Please follow your personal floodplan, and be advised to keep away from the beach and promenade area.

A361 East Lyng to Burrowbridge
Water is continuing to spill from Currymoor into Saltmoor and Northmoor via Athelney spillway, the old Lyng railway cutting, and over Baltmoor wall. This is causing water levels in Northmoor, including the A361, to continue to rise. The current level in Northmoor is 5.35 m and this has been rising by about 14 millimetres per hour over the last few hours. This poses an ongoing risk to local properties. Moderate, occasionally heavy, frontal rain will spread in from the south during Thursday morning. Between 20 mm and 30 mm of rain is forecast for the area over the next 24 hours. This is likely to cause the River Tone to rise for a time, resulting in a further temporary increase in the amount of water going into the Currymoor, Northmoor area. In addition to our pumping operations, a number of temporary defences have also been installed in an effort to limit the impact to local property. The emergency services are assisting people with evacuation from their properties in the local area
