I think I can say that it is now snowing in Penrith. A bit pathetic so far but there are definitely snow flakes!

More chance of a heatwave here than a snowfall based on this morning's rain and then the clear dry conditions. Not to worry there's always spring when no doubt some will arrive.

The precipitation type radar looks promising for more western parts: NI, western and northwestern England and Wales in particular. Enjoy!

Big fluffy flakes coming down and settling on all surfaces.

Air temp is 3C degrees but the dew point of -1.7C must be helping things. Fantastic!!

Can't see this lasting too long looking at radar, nevertheless the snow on the ground is blowing about with the wind picking up - a decent little event this.

So, let me get this right Nick. When the rain comes along you have been in the rain shadow and have stayed relatively dry while we have been soaked. Yet when the snow comes along it stays dry and here and snows with you.

You're not making any friends you know :P

I want a new rain/snow deflector mine is behaving unacceptably!

It's not that heavy - only light... when it's from the W or NW, we get shielded.. when it's from the SW; it passes over slightly lower ground, so tends to keeps its integrity (that's my logic to it anyway!).

If it's any consolation the rain will avoid the deflector here tomorrow by sneaking in from the SE...while yet again the mountains get even more buried by heavy snow!

The closest I'm getting to watching the snow is Sochi 😂

We had snow!!

Back in St Helens by 16.30 and it started snowing soon after: big, fat, juicy flakes. Left a slushy covering, but has largely melted now. Temp (according to car) fell from 6c when I left my meeting the other side of Wigan at around 15.00, to 2c during the snow.

Big gap until the next band of showers but, if we get some more snow overnight, we might wake up to a covering. But that's a long shot.
