Anyone got an idea of the timetable of the winds transferring across the UK

Dumb question I know , just wondering when I am likely to see them

As for the fencing, the fence I put up around my garden in 2005 has held up so far (with one post having to be replaced after rotting through at the base for some reason), although I am slightly regretting not waiting a bit before cutting down the trees which sheltered the corner of the fencing from the wind. Today will be the test of whether that was a mistake!

The radar shows several embedded squalls, by the looks of things, one around Shropshire and Herefordshire, one around Bath and a couple along the Hamsphire and Sussex coasts..

At this rate the major TV organisations are going to run out of reporters on the ground, given they're already deployed down here and yet the major story will move north as West Wales and NW England take an absolute hammering.

It has been an interesting 24 hours here, snow cover last night/this morning and now storm force winds later with a red warning for NW England. Wind really strengthening as I type with the roof creaking.

Over here, it's now getting quite squally where the wind is coming in from the Channel as well as coming over all dark. The wind has caused a lorry to topple over on the high ground section of the A20 between Folkestone and Dover: http://www.folkestoneherald.co.uk/Lorry-trailer-overturns-strong-winds-A20/story-20613084-detail/story.html

It goes without saying that this is turning out to be the most longest and painful Winter I have ever known - and yet compared to some people, I am getting off lightly so far where it felt like I have dodged a bullet every time. I still think the Post Christmas Windstorm was the worst in terms of not just wind speeds but sustainability (something like 40 straight hours of severe gales).

hurricane-force winds within the storm

Do they really still have to issue these statements?
