Very strong storms passed through here earlier. I was at work so couldn't 'enjoy' them as much as I might like but there was almost constant thunder and buckets of rainfall.

It's gone quite dark again here and we're getting a few spots of rain.  Oh for a night time lightning display.  Mustn't be greedy though.

Yes I'd love a night-time storm, too! What is happening in Germany now is incredible. Like you say our storm was a widespread one, and probably the strongest we've had this year? Still nothing compared to the storms on the continent. ESTOFEX had a Level 3 out today and probably will have something similar tomorrow.

The cold Strait Of Dover is certainly doing a good job in keeping the cells over the French coast at bay. I wonder if it is worth taking myself and the camera gear down to the beach to get some distant lightning photos when it does become dark within the hour?

Enjoying a lovely show this evening. Firstly we had the thunderstorm that literally developed over Folkestone at 10pm and now I am seeing some fantastic flashes on the SSW to SW horizons.

A great evening !

BBC weather just mentioned the intensity of the storms over Notts and Lincs today.  Looks like the continental weather is reaching our Southern shores.  Enjoy the light show!

I'm not having a lot of luck with capturing those isolated strikes on the camera, but my fellow photographer friend, Freddie, who lives around the corner did . . .

The storm that has struck the low countries and Western Germany looks incredible! What a monster... over 20,000 lightning strikes in 2 hours, looks like the wind has done a lot of damage as well.

Thundery shower clearing here now. Had 6 flashes and rumbles around 2 minutes apart from a single cell that electrified a mile away to the SE. Closest strike was a mile away. Not much rain as the cell wasn't direcly overhead. Some massive raindrops and some small hail mixed in
