Bosnia scores its first goal in a World Cup tournament, which is one more than Wayne Rooney in three World Cup tournaments.

I think we need a discussion regardingthe team / formation for the Uruguay game, here is what I am incline to -

.....................Hart......................

Johnson........Jagielka..........Cahill................Baines

.............Gerrard.......Henderson

Sterling..........Rooney...............Lallana

................Sturridge.......................

Roony cannot start wide left again so he either needs shifting to behind the front man as above or leaving out totally as below and drop Wilshire in -

.....................Hart......................

Johnson........Jagielka..........Cahill................Baines

.............Gerrard.......Wilshere

Sterling..........Barkley.............Lallana

................Sturridge.......................

How do you solve a problem like Rooney?

So, on the that basis, the front four would more likely be: Sterling Rooney Welbeck

                                                                                                  Sturridge

Personally, I'd also go for  Sterling, Rooney, Welbeck (better at tracking back than Lallana)

                                            Sturridge

Last chance saloon for Rooney. We can't afford to carry him for much longer.

An alternative for Woy might be to dispense with Welbeck and slot Milner in there. He may have far less pace than Welbeck but he might provide better defensive cover for Baines, which is certainly needed as the Italy game showed.

If Rooney does start the next two games then they will go a long way to determining his England future, or lack of.

I would love to think that all this negative talk against him would fire him up, make him angry and go out there and prove us all wrong. But it has been going on too long and he shows no sign of it ,if anything it is the opposite.

We risk not progressing in the tournament at the expense of Woy appeasing Wooney's ego and letting a host of young talent down in the process.

Big moment for Woy and Rooney. If Woy gets this call wrong the knives could be out for him as well.

Woy said Wooney had a very good game against Italy. If he thinks this why would he drop him?

As a footnote, the Italians in 1982 didn't win ANY of their first round group games, yet still progressed and ended up winning the tournament. I reckon the chances of the same thing happening now must be considerably less.

I think Rooney has known for a while he needs to reinvent himself in footballing terms - as a No10. The trouble is that he's shunted around positionally far too much, so hasn't been able to establish himself in one position.

Uruguay are NOT a strong team, and I have no idea why they were being bigged up so much in the run up to the WC.

Is Roy mad?! Whilst I understand Suarez may not start, why on earth go out on a limb to state in a press conference, 'he's not world class until he does it on the biggest stage?!'

Luis Suarez does not need much to get fired up or motivated! Look at the 'dive' in front of Moyes as a perfect example of how he stores comments like this. I understand Roy might be playing mind-games, but I fear playing them with Suarez is almost like playing Russian Roulette with only one chamber empty rather than full.

As for Saturday night, I think Roy may have woken Sunday just thinking about his decision not to take Ashley Cole a tad. With no protection in front of him, Baines looked out of his depth. I think Cole would have coped better in that situ.

Anyone see Jonathan Pearce making a total prat of himself in the France match?

Yes that goal line technology is really baffling isn't it: ball not over line: no goal. Ball then crosses line: goal!

This verdict just in:

Germany-Portugal next up.

A question of "who do I want to lose the most", then hoping the other side wins.

With Spain out of sorts, could we being seeing a possible semi-finalist from 5pm ?

I think it's a fair bet that holland could reach the semi final if and it is a big if they keep their form up

I think it's odds on we will see one European in the last 4 - I would be surprised if all 4 semi-finalists were local teams - south or Central American

You might think local advantage plays a big part - but chances are that one of the local teams will get upset by a European team

Please note - most of the media (not the bookies) make argentina the clear favourites for the World Cup due to their strength and depth of squad - not brazil
