I have heard that in the match stats germany had 12 shots on goal in the whole match - and scored from 7 of them

Shows you their ruthless efficiency

Apart from anything it's good to see Brazil getting hammered if only because they have stupid names. Does anyone know where this tradition comes from? For example, 'Fred' is called Frederico Chaves Guedes, so why not have Guedes on the team sheet?

Do you know what the best bit is? Seeing the dejected faces of the fawning pundits who actually seem to genuinely believe their own bullsh*t over Brazil. There's only ever been one truly great Brazilian side and that was back in 1970. The constant bigging them up has always baffled me. This has been coming and I am absolutely LOVING the fallout.

Hopefully the vile Argies suffer a similar fate tonight.

This Brazil team has not been great, and having lost their talisman turned into a shambles last night.

Wouldn't be suprised to see Germany NOT WIN the final.

Fair play to the Brazil fans for not rioting or setting fire to the stadium. I was half expecting something like that but I think deep down, even they realised this team was shite and were lucky to make it to the semis

This German [censored]fest I am reading on the t'interweb these days is worrying me, come on we don't want zee Germans to win, watching the Germans win is like watching someone punch a kitten in the face.

I could never support Germany or Scotland at international level and Argentina are very borderline also.

I want the Dutch to finally get over the line at the 4th attempt and it would be fitting to do that against zee Germans who beat them in the final in 74.

The 1982 Brazil side wasn't a bad one by the way, one of the best sides not to win the world cup. Socrates, Zico, Falcao...... I agree that the 1970 side was the only great one and the greatest in history. If the Dutch had won the WC in 1974 they could have come close to the Brazil 1970 side for greatness, but they **** it up as usual

Just out of interest, I wonder who most England fans were supporting on the night of the 1990 final. The Germans that had knocked them out on penalties four nights earlier, or Argentina who were still led by the man that became one of the biggest villains in England's World Cup history thanks to the "Hand of God" goal four years earlier.

The jury is out on tonight

While all reports I saw said Germany would beat brazil in prediction

Some reckon will be Holland will be too strong and others reckon Argentina will win

if you look which team has more match winners it would be Holland for me with Argentina just relying on Messi

IMO, it makes Brazil's performance last night look even worse when you think that three teams of supposedly lesser ability, namely Ghana, USA and Algeria all came much closer to getting a result against the Germans than the men in yellow ever did last night.

The 1-0 win over the USA in the end suited both teams in terms of advancing to the last 16, but I wasn't that convinced at all by the way they played against Algeria, during the first 90 minutes anyway. They did enough to beat France without really setting the heather alight.

Regardless of who wins tonight, I think that Germany will have a much more difficult match in the final on Sunday than they had last night. The Argies themselves know all about German goalscoring power, having been gubbed 4-0 by them in the quarter-finals of the last World Cup. Both Argentina and Holland have old scores to settle with the Germans; Argentina for losing in the 1990 final and then the Q/F defeats to the Germans in 2006 and 2010, and Holland for losing the 1974 final.
