As I've just commented on Facebook, if I was Brazilian tonight I'd feel totally mortified at that "performance" thus far. Credit to the Germans, they've done what they needed to do but one would at least have expected Brazil of all teams to give them a contest. Forget the Brazil teams of 1970, 1982 et al, this lot aren't even fit to lace the boots of the team of Ronaldo, Rivaldo etc that won the tournament in 2002. I just wonder what Pele, Zico, Falcao and other Brazil legends are thinking right now.

Indeed. Somehow though, I can't see Argentina or Holland, whichever one of them wins tomorrow night, being as shocking in the final as Brazil have been tonight. This is almost a freak scoreline, a wee bit like when England hammered the Germans 5-1 in Munich during the qualifiers for the 2002 World Cup.

7-0 now. This is now a total farce IMO.

Don't expect the Germans to have it even half as easy in the final as they've had it tonight though. It would be embarassing if the final turned out to be as one-sided IMO.

Even more bizarre considering that this is the same German side that dropped two points against Ghana, only just managed to beat the Yanks 1-0 and then needed extra-time to defeat Algeria in the last 16.

Don't get me wrong, this German team is probably the best they've had since the early-mid 90's and were miles ahead of Brazil in every department tonight, but I reckon Brazil have just made this German side look like the best team in the history of football. They won't get it anything as easy again in the final regardless of who they play, of that I am pretty sure.

The sadistic part of me now wants to see Brazil's hated rivals win the tournament. However, my sadistic streak is more than trumped by my hatred of Argentina and the thought of that human growth hormone fuelled sh. i. thouse Messi getting his hands on the Cup.

The best way of summing up Brazil's performance is that they were about as much good tonight as the England cricket team were during last winter's Ashes series.

No, they were worse than that.

It was an utterly shameful performance by an ordinary Brazil team (without their two best players) against a very good (but not great) Germany team.

'Big' Phil will presumably now throw himself under the proverbial bus. And he should do because of his blind loyalty to crap players such as Fred.

I said before the match that Scolari would adopt a 'false nine' approach because he was left with no recognised striker. How right I was.

I am still amazed how Lucas (the PSG one, not the Dippers one) couldn't get into this team.
