Massive cloudburst with thunder here near Wantage. Very impressive.

Fingers crossed something happens here as we missed out last night - just some showers in the early hours of the morning. There's a lot of pesky stratocumulus that keeps coming over though so that may put a spanner in the works. We'll have to see.

Just had a cheeky popcorn type power shower pass over Folkestone, even came with a couple of rumbles. The sun is out again now and everything is all moist and steamy. The lawn is looking so gorgeous for it.

According to the radar, something developing south of here. I can hear distant rumbles of thunder. Might be a tad to the west though.

Final risk of tornadoes today, with the highest risk over the E midlands:

http://meteocentre.com/models/gemglb_eur_12/HI_PN_003_0000.gif

EHI peaking at about 2 today and falling through the afternoon, however EHI tells you about the ability for supercell formation, you also need a high CAPE, so while the EHI falls off today, the CAPE rises, so the greatest risk is probably at 6pm tonight. After that it seems unlikely imo, although it already is unlikely.

Thanks for comments ;)
When it was approaching it sounded like a regular gunshot. No additional sound, just a clean 2 sec echo like a bird scarer. Never heard or seen anything like it.
Lost power for 3+ hrs after it approached with freq lightning.
The storm in the early hrs had even more freq lightning and lasted 2 hrs. Sweet!

Those storms down between Le Havre and Rouen are very powerful, but they appear to have been detained in Customs and have not really budged for a while now.

Convergence line in the E midlands, expect an explosion in activity there in the next hour or so. High EHI aswell makes supercell formation possible.

I'm actually looking east of where the current shower activity is though.

Also need to watch that monster that is leaving the N coast of france. Rain rates on that are unbelievable.

Lots of cumulus making a break for cumulus congestus just west of here... shows the atmosphere destabilising, but I fear that the steering flow might be too fast to allow them to develop into anything before clearing Reading.

My main remaining source of hope is that cell which spawned near Andover - it showed that something could get going further south with any luck.

Can't say I'm feeling very lucky though
