Nowhere near as much rain as predicted here. I got 37mm between late afternoon yesterday and early this morning.

Today certainly was not as bad as forecast with it being mostly dry after 8am and even sunny in the morning and early afternoon. Most notable was the wind which was unusually strong for the time of year. Felt more like an October day.

The heavy rain caused a few problems here but nothing like those caused in Scotland.

Sunday's downpour certainly caused flooding problems in Gainsborough.  It turned out to be the 5th wettest day in the last 32 years here, notching up 43mm in total.  And it was the wettest day since the infamous June 24th, 2007 event.  So a very notable rainfall event for us here.

At one stage it looked like Bertha would be a damp quid but it was a notable storm, several times I looked out the window and it looked like a Hurricane outside!

Impressive rainfall totals and unusually strong winds so for once all the warnings were justified, it's odd also how an ex tropical storm can bring such low temperatures.

Here in Carrbridge we saw a massive rise of The Dulnain (Gaelic for the river that rises and falls fast) here it was at its height at 11am yesterday and the pic taken 24hrs before at the annual duck race!

The other is at Balnacoil, the River Brora

There are loads of photos of the bridge yesterday on my Facebook page Highland Weather

Bertha removed 5m of shingle from Pagham beach near Chichester. 5m may not sound a lot bur if your house is built on the shingle and was only 15m from the sea before Bertha got to work ....

Heard about this yesterday - there should be an account in the next MBA newsletter.  I understand the kids are none the worse for their ordeal and are looking forward to trumping all their classmates holiday tales when they go back to school
