Rain band fizzled to nothing around here as it crossed the high ground to the west, often the case in this very dry part of Highland.

10.8c

Much wetter further west my AWS in Gairloch recorded 22.4mm, Fort William 23.1mm, Dundonnell 22.9mm.

What was of note is several sites to the north aong the eastern coast saw a drop from 15/16c to 10c in 15 minutes as the cold front passed over earlier.

Fine and clear with sunshine, just a few wispy cirrus. 19.6 C under a gentle south westerly breeze.

All in all, a very pleasant afternoon, a shame that this time tomorrow it'll all be dull, wet, cold, windy and s**t. Anyone who are actually looking forward to a change to all that needs their heads testing. It's too soon, can't it at least wait until mid-November at the earliest?

It does look as tough it might not be too bad until 10am by which time they will be loaded.

By contrast today is 18C bright and windy.
Have just baled some hay of sorts made from pasture toppings really, and it was so dry it was trying to blow away as soon as the machine touched it. Not often that happens in October but baling straw would not be that unusual.

Raining.  Twice as much rain has fallen since lunchtime as did in September.

Could be looking at rainfall totals for this event approaching 100mm, 31 mm here so far.
