Superb, you must have had a great time ?
Did you get a chance to touch one?.
Beautiful creatures.I know it sounds silly, but are they smelly like seals?.(not that it would matter)I would love to touch one.

Half moon bay

Yes, they are REALLY smelly! Although it was early in the season so the poo hadn't had time to build up. You are not allowed to approach the penguins, but if you sit still, they can and do approach you.We saw a few small avalanches too, and heard plenty of bigger ones. A smallish avalanche caused a mini tsunami, and set an iceberg pitching and rolling. It toppled over in the bay and split into two.
Great tabular iceberg..
Silver Explorer, hard into the pack ice..
Chinstrap penguins..
Tough going.
Sorry,I was referring to the ship in ice.
Tough creatures,those penguins.
How do they survive the winter there?.amazing.
Fabulous photo's Clare, thanks for sharing. I would love to go there one day, although I can't see it happening unless I win the lottery.
Fantastic photos, so want to visit Antarctica one day.
Only just spotted this thread! A great collection of photos thus far. I was going to ask if you have seen any borealis australis but then I realised it's summer at that end right now, where the midnight sun doesn't set.
