Looks like I may have to stay in this section for a little while longer,  when the colder air arrives it starts to turn dry then when the next lot of precipitation arrives late Wednesday along with the gales it starts to warm up again

The story here is similar to yours Saint.  We generally don't do well for snow, but we have in the past 5 years and mainly when most of the country hasn't had a flake, which bugs me because I don't have anyone on here to share the excitement with.

I really do hope you all get some snow this month, but please, please let the bulk of it hold off until after the 21st.   I don't usually bite my fingernails, but I think I might start.

Most strong westerly flows bring endless showers to Cumbria often merging into longer spells of rain, so what happens when the air mass is cold enough for snow?

We get no precipitation, not a flake, no doubt the next mild westerly will dump an inch of rain as it usually does.

You couldn't make it up.

Needless to say this vile cold zonal set-up delivered absolutely zero snow here just more of the horrible cold winds that make being outside extremely unpleasant. For the umpteenth time the pavements were icy as well so it was a nightmare trying to avoid slipping while having a hideous raw wind blasting at your face

Yet again the wind has increased in strength post-sunset instead of dropping. It's 0.8C now and I'm willing to bet it will be the same in 6 hours time

Like last year this winter is so awful you couldn't make it up. Last year it was the relentless rain this year the relentless cold wind

Still bugger all here and looking at the radar bugger all is the form horse. Even the next 10 days look crap for our region, still the countdown for spring ( which will be bloody snowy no doubt ) has begun.

Obviously won't pan out like that (and the standard GFS doesn't make the snow as widespread away from higher areas), but it's not correct to say it looks crap for the NW

Very hit and miss for coastal areas as usual but less marginal inland assuming the GFS firms up on it over the next 24/48hrs. Bit too early to be looking into it too much at the moment I guess though!

Not much here in north Wolves, temp at 0.9c so snow unlikely to settle if it were to fall as the ground is wet from previous showers.

Not too happy - had some sleety showers last night but whenever the cloud increased the temp rose then only fell as the shower passed!

Dartmoor had around 2" of snow.

No snow here in Exeter - only sleet showers or sleety rain and some hail thrown in. The problem was the fact whenever the cloud thickened up the temperature rose by a degree.

This morning in Chichester, the rain was beating against our bedroom window...I thought I did detect a bit of ice in the rain drops..they were a bit splodgy...but not proper sleet which as I understand it is a mixture of rain and snow...this was definitely rain but of the icy variety😩
