Very heavy sleet/wet snow here now as the front pushes in from the west, we had another tiny dusting overnight, then a heavy snow shower about half 8 this morning, that was it, thought we would of done a lot better here.

More than a foot of snow now at my mum' s in Highland Perthshire and still snowing. They are 100 metres Asl. Even deeper up in Speyside with a bit more altitude.
Here it is cold rain now at 2.3C and the snow cover is now very wet.

Just thought I would add these pics as the snow although a dusting was a rare event in a westerly.

View of Exmoor from the top of North Hill, Minehead, West Somerset a few minutes from where we are living.

A litttle further along the road looking towards Exmoor near Porlock. The snow was a little thicker in the fields near the farm in bottom left

Looking over the Bristol Channel with South Wales in the distance.

Another view looking over the Bristol Channel towards Wales.

So all in all an unusual event all gone now with a gale and driving rain beating on the windows as I type this.

Surprised that the precipitation band moving south-east across Scotland has started off as heavy sleet here. Carol on BBC breakfast suggested snow above 300m. If it stays as sleet, she could of course be right but I am hoping the sleet turns to snow with time. We will see. Some quite violent gusts too: certainly about 50 mph.
XC weather has winds of 39-59mph at Glasgow Bishopton so yes, pretty windy day!

Quite a sharp blustery shower just rattled through here, and....I can't be 100% certain... but it looked a bit sleety in the nearest street lamp, and as it smashed against the window. Nearest I've come to seeing a snowflake fo nearly 2 yrs!

Just had a lengthy snow shower that has left a covering on all surfaces and the Lake District seems to be getting some very heavy snow.

should be an interesting day ahead, currently 0.8c with light snow.

According to the car, the temp in Manc is 4c (same as home when I left). Mixed in amongst the rain showers is some hail.

No snow here, but we had a sharp 5-min hail shower yesterday evening around 7.45pm - couldn't hear a word of the movie I was watching at the time! Left a slushy covering in places for a few minutes.

Also had 2 power cuts yesterday, the longest being in the height of the storm (2-3 hours).

Had some light snow earlier but no accumulation then some hail about half an hour ago, temp has been fluctuating between 1 & 2C and the dew point between 1 & 0C......so it's very marginal. Just looked on the traffic cams and there is a slight dusting on the highest part of the M62.

Just had a light snow shower. Flakes were nice and fluffy but the ground is drenched so no settling. Quite surprised by how few showers there are in the Irish Sea today!

Currently on my way to Inverness so expecting some snow! Back at home my Mrs is reporting heavy snow that is settling. My phone app gets its data from Hawarden and is showing 5c and rain. Altitude makes all the difference.

Cheers

Nice mix of big snow, little snow, hail and pretty much everything in between as the next batch goes through. Better than expected so far although I don't expect to see anything sticking in this location out of the setup.
