Max Temperature Reports for 5th - 12th April 2015

The first week of possible widespread high temperatures of the year is now upon us. Same thread as last year please post your max temps in here. Meto are going for clear sky and 16c here for the bank holiday tomorrow and hopefully over the next week many people will see some great weather!

Last year's thread was actually for the week 7th - 14th March which was very early for such high temperatures and just scanning that thread it looks like Kew reported 19.5c on the 9th March.

Its already clear blue sky here today so will be interesting what temperature we reach but I think it will be the warmest day of the year so far with tomorrow beating it. It may not turn out all that good in the end but it looks like the first week of 2015 with some real potential. Lets hope this week delivers for many!

It's nice to talk about warm temperatures for a change, even if in reality they aren't extraordinarily high for the time of year. We're forecast to hit 14C today.

Cloud could well be a problem therefore limiting the temps this week!

We shell see.

My station is currently recording 14.2c with a fair bit of cloud cover, so it could be a fair bit higher in places where it is sunny.

In the Sun this morning at 11:22 had an unshielded temperature of  14.4c.  Now with cloud about it is 13.0c.  In a shady corner a reading of 12.5c.

Warmest day so far this year was 7 March with 17.4C recorded at Santon Downham.

Remarkably the second warmest day of 2015 is 9 January when 16.5C was recorded at Exeter AP.

The current forecast suggests that the end of this week will see some very high temperatures. Somewhere around Santon Downham could well reach 19C on Friday. We could see 19C again next Sunday somewhere along the south coast. Monday 13th looks like 19-20C could be recorded quite widely with 21C or more by Tuesday.

Here is a summary of when the first 21C was reached over the past few years

So much for my guess April would start cool and cloudy . Even yesterday the forecast was for the cloud and cool to hang about well into the week.

It is being a stunningly clear afternoon with the sun dancing around in clear blue skies - but as expected we are feeling the cooling effect of the wind coming in from the North Sea/Strait of Dover with temperatures being pegged down at 9.2 C currently.

Not down at the beach but a few miles southwest of Aberdeen this afternoon and it has been lovely. In the sun you could close your eyes and pretend it was midsummer.

It probably blew away last week.

06 April 2015 08:06:01

Aboyne reached 20.7C yesterday.

Leuchars and Strathallan both reached 20.0C

Similar temperatures expected in the NE again today. A glorious week coming up for many.

On the flip side the clear skies giving some very low overnight temperatures this morning including down here in the south:

Benson -1.6C
Larkhill -1.5C
Exeter AP -1.5C

Some very large diurnal variations in temperature can be expected with the current set up at this time of year. Aboyne reached 0.9C this morning so almost 20C lower than the maximum yesterday. Not unusual though to see figures around 20C. Can often be much higher than this.

Just touched 20C in Crediton (mid Devon) easily the warmest day so far this year. Exceptional after an overnight minimum of 0.3C, beautiful warm sunshine and light winds.
