Flashes incoming from the south... far more frequent than sferics imply - one every 5-10 seconds!

A decent lightning show over Manchester right now. I can't hear any thunder but a great show looking North over the city. (In Stockport currently).

Still warm outside - 22C.

Dew points have dropped off though since the peak around 6.30pm.

I doubt this will end up being another hot night. But much warmer then last nights shocker!! Can't believe it got down so low, my tomatoes didn't like it.

Naff all on the thunder front, seems to all be happening to the left & right of me. Typical😒

What a sight to behold. Convection and electrification initiating upon arrival at these shores over the Channel, whilst in northern France there's nowt...

Mid to high based storms I suspect down south. I suspect these are going to root into lower layers as they move north, hence the expansion of SB precipitation on the models.

Some good CG's to my west earlier, but moved away north now. Great show nonetheless. Also heard thunder.

Edit - woah, the storm near Bournemouth is producing some insanely frequent lightning.

Indeed, it is all flashing away around me, mostly "out of reach", but lightning is lightning. No rain had fallen though.

we will have to wait and see but

A level 2 was issued for NW France and the channel region, for very large hail, severe wind gusts and tornadoes and to a lesser extent for extreme precipitation.

A level 1 was issued for a greater part of Northern and Western France and the Southern United Kingdom for large hail and extreme precipitation.

Right. So I've got one flash occurring every single second. No two way about it.

Still barely a hint of thunder though... eerie stuff.

And gone. That. Was. Frickin. Awesome!!! Must have been a hundred lightning strikes over a 5 minute spell... And gone! Sounds of sirens now, but hopefully not for anything serious.

Beautiful show.

Some thunder and lightning kicking off first out to the west and then most recently getting closer to Burnley. Bloodly well missed the last lot went to bed at nine thirty, out like a light never heard a thing. Stopping up for this.

Cheers Paul S.
