The main thing that's been getting to me is the utter gloominess of the past month. The amount of sunshine hours we had in November you could literally count on your fingers, I've almost forgotten what the sun looks like. Really think I'm developing SAD and vitamin D deficiency.. and I'm well used to the gloom living in this place.

Perhaps we need a new word to describe the endless, mild, mucky grey of a typical English December: something phonetically degrading- cludge, grag, putrick, splutch maybe?

I get pretty fed up with the weather here too, but the thing is, this isn't normal. It isn't supposed to rain nearly every day, and the amount of sunshine we've had over the past month has been atrociously low. A normal UK winter is pretty cloudy but November 2015 was cloudier than even the cloudiest winter months tend to be.

It's mild and breezy. But at least it's been relatively dry down here the last couple of days. Could be much worse.

Most unseasonable really.  Very mild this morning, a bit of sunshine but then back to the default greyness.

The weather is certainly putrick here tonight.  Wet and windy again.  No change there!

At least the lack of frost means I don't have to rush off before daybreak to defrost the chicken's drinking water.  I just have to worry about the lid of the coop blowing off!

One of my clients lives in Lanark and she tells me that she went to the hairdressers after work yesterday and, when she came out, there'd been a freak snow shower that left everywhere white. She's sent me a pic of the High Street and I can't make out whether it's snow or hail.

Default wind and rain here and I'm told it's going to get wilder over the weekend!  Just because I have the weekend off.  We have a load of logs being delivered to my daughter's in the morning and I've got to stack them in the log store.  Her house is on the highest and windiest ridge in our area!

Not convinced we'll get much rain here. In a set-up like this, the northern extent of the Pennines and Dales get the worst of it whilst Sheffield 'shelters' next to the southern Pennines  Some light to moderate rain expected overnight but it'll peter out to a dull and windy day tomorrow

Did someone say gloating thread?..maxed at 26C here today, with wall to wall sunshine, and light easterly winds (has been since at least Tuesday too) .

Sadly, summer will be over from tomorrow, as the cloud increases and the temp gets pegged back to around24C
