Meteorologists must be the most hated people in the UK this winter, always forecasting horrible destructive weather, endless rain and gloom. Even I feel annoyed by them, even though they don't control it and simply forecast what is showing. If I was going to become a weather forecast I'd move to a country with a nicer climate personally.

Tell me about it, sometimes I hate myself as an amateur forecaster. As much as it is a nice feeling when I do forecast the kind of weather I might enjoy more (a decent proper snow event in the winter and lengthy spells of warm sunny weather in the summer months) but since our default weather mode is of overcast skies, rain and wind regardless of the season what with us living in the UK, I wish I had taken on a less depressing/stressful hobby such as railway modelling or cartoon drawing . . . oh, wait . . . I am into that anyway.

Oh well, this forecasting lark keeps me occupied anyway. I guess it's in my blood, a bit like someone pledging allegiance to their favourite football club no matter what, even if they keep losing.

Another repulsive day yet again 13c with drizzle - tomorrow will be better 11c with heavy rain and strong winds (NOT).

One question again!? - How come there isn't more significant snow and to lower levels in Scotland? It is an easterly/ South easterly wind after all!?

The simple fact is that for the most part Britain has a very benign climate compared with a great many other countries.

Which is why many of us dont like it - we want extremes.   But most people, sensibly, do not .....   I have yet to hear anyone in the street bemoan the lack of cold and snow.   As I have said before, even when we have incessant rain and floods the usual comment is "well at least it is not snowing".
