Plenty of people getting snow...and I bet they'll get even more when the next system moves in, they're in the right location to get another slider event if the High to the E holds out, enjoy if you have some, despair...like me...if you don't...

So yesterday, as forecast it clouded over as snow further south moved down the country on a NWly flow. Now this morning there is precipitation just to the east and it is tracking a few miles off the coast NNEwards - I'm sure it's just to annoy me.

The snow drought continues, pity the rain didn't avoid this area in the same way in the first half of the month.

Check out the radar by Aberdeen at the moment - it really is taking the mickey.

I can actually see it falling from here, the sea must have a good covering by now.

This winter is beyond salvation as far as I'm concerned. This weekend was meant to be sunny but all we got was the 7th consecutive grey Saturday with little sunshine - a mind bogglingly awful statistic - and after clearing overnight the cloudy crap is back again. It's miserable

This is just ridiculously awful. Totally intolerable. Week in week out of depressing grey crap. The only time there ever seems to be sun now in winter is when there's a 50mph wind blowing  The 30 days up to the 12th saw 204mm of rain and only 32 hours sun and there is scope to get worse as the truly horrendous stuff never really started until Boxing Day.

Also failed to get  proper hard frost. It went down to -4.2C by 11:30pm but no lower. God knows why as it was certainly clear until well after midnight

Another day on the hills cancelled thanks to the dreich weather: hill fog and a mudfest underfoot.  At least the pub will be warm and dry ...

We failed to get 1. Snow. 2. An air frost. 3. An ice say. 4. sleet 5 sub-zero night time temperature. 6 Not one frosty morning. The list goes on. The coldest day was in fact Thursday and Friday both at 7.5c - Hardly cold.

Last night was meant to be the coldest when forecasted Friday and we never even got below 3c. Tonight we expect a low of 6c and tomorrow a high of 10c. Thursday was a big let down - instead of temperatures falling, temperatures rose to +4c for rain/hail showers.

I wish the forecasters could be a little more literal when forecasting - only a few days ago this was in the forecast:

Sunday night into Monday was the one to watch out for'.

0/10. Disaster! It was not even a cold spell here in the SW - just a cooler spell for 2 days.

Well we woke up to a nice inch of snow this morning. Still snowing now although the thaw has been winning for the last few hours. Was just enough for snowmen and muddy sledging in the park so the kids are happy. Not the biggest snowfall ever but at the upper end of what I was realistically hoping for from last night so I'm happy.

Time for that roast pork!

Stayed on the dry and cold side of things last night. It was disappointing but the prosepct of a bright, dry and crisp day after a cloudy start was acceptable. However it is now raining and damp with a temperature of 3c.

The thought of a cloudy cool few days before the inevitable atlantic return now compounds my disappointment.

EDIT rain has turned moderate and has some soft hail in the mix. Teasing me that it is actually -3c at 925Hpa level.

horrible raw murky rain and drizzle stated at 0.5, and now 2 deg c , clearly warmer air above , but just foul and no i m not driving to Surrey to see a few flakes..
We have had some Australian relations here, they cannot believe we can live in such a depressingly awlful climate , they were here for three weeks but went off to Europe after two weeks as they could not stand it any longer and now they are back and this is their last weekend here great! . And I live in South Hampshire that's been drier and 'sunnier' than the rest of the uk the last 2 months Sun ? that's a joke.

What's left of the snow belt has finally arrived here at this end of Kent . . . in the form of cold drizzle.

Both air temperature & dewpoint have risen to above freezing (4.8 C, 0.9 C) so it is unable to support snow from aloft at sea level.

I could rant and rave about it, but I'm so used to being let down when it comes to trying to forecast snow while at the same time keeping expectations low that it's become second nature. But, I did hope it would brighten up by now as well as staying dry, but even that doesn't look like happening today.
