Another grey damp overcast day but at least it is mild,very mild infact 13.5c here today.

Just two air frosts all winter,a mean temperature of exactly 10c from Dec 1st to date and there have been only 10 days the temperature has failed to reach double figures all winter,an incredibly warm winter!!

Crap weather indeed. But still weather to wonder at. Wondering when will it end....

So the final 4 weeks of the season and yet another abortion of a winter with no sign of improvement. The last 3 winters have been extended autumns with almost nothing remotely resembling wintry weather. This December in particular was surely the worst winter month for cold/snow for centuries or millennia. 

If there's no sign of anything significant on the horizon by next week I'm calling it a day and looking towards Spring and Summer.

If it's anything like this winter, it'll only ever be ready tomorrow...

Did see a tree blossoming lately.. looked like a cherry blossom but white instead of pink. No idea what iyou call it.

Still, with many evergreen trees and shrubs being planted as well as hardy palms, maybe we should just accept our mild winters and pretend we live in a subtropical climate. 😛 There's a tall trachycarpus not far from here that looks rather magnificent and a couple of canary island date palms.  With the sunshine lately and increasing sum strength it actually feels quite nice when the wind dies down.

I can only speak for IMBY. It was another pants snowless winter here.

Even if your are referring to your own back yard which from your profile is in the southeast of Wales this is still factually incorrect..

as your winter saw above average sunshine, average temperatures, average rainfall.

And well below average snowfall with not a single covering which is the main thing I and most other people look for in a winter. A snowless winter is always a disappointing one IMO. But it was indeed better than this one at least.

Ditto. The snow actually lasted a while here. Easily better than this winter wrt snow.

i wouldnt be surprised if spring cet is lower than winter cet ,the way the seasons are now in the UK :(

This says it all. Utter dross over these last 3 months!

It feels like we are in the longest autumn ever! Started mid to end of July last year and still going over 7 months later

Its looking like,especially for all of us down south that winter is going to be completely bypassed.

With a warming climate, more winters of this ilk can be expected.  I guess its about attitude adjustment. 

This winter is proving to be a real "attitude adjuster".

No not really.

Our winters are generally mild and Atlantic dominated for the last 100 or so or as far back as weather records go.

Of course from time to time we do get colder winters and we will again.

Cold winters of 08/09, 09/10, 10/11.

And the very cold March of 2013 the coldest for 100 years.

31 day running temp anomaly for the last year here. Says it all really. Hardly much difference between summer and winter actual temps.

Yes, the U.K. was never guaranteed a cold winter year on year even during the Little Ice Age. Read Pepys back in the 1600s when he talks about seeing lying snow for the first time in 3 years in London, a Times editorial from 1937 saying southern Britain is not the best place to learn the greatness of snow and further back to 1891 where a Times editorial says "in our climate severe winters are less common than mild"

Besides which we live a maritime climate where mild is the norm, but when we do have cold that's down to warming world also according to some.
