Still no snow here. Stuff approaching on the radar but it will be the western flank which to me says rain.

Been an odd day, caused by being in the hinterland between snow & rain. For most of the past 10 hours it's been snowing, but often light, sometimes sleety. Just a few miles east of here there's a good 2-3cm (at least); I see on the traffic cams that the M6 has its outside lane snow-covered for miles on the eastern fringe of St Helens.

Yet here the snow has struggled to accumulate. Every time the pavements/lawns/roads have begun to turn white after a period of more decent snow, it's become lighter/sleetier & the white's turned to grey.

However, this last hour/hour & half the snow's pepped up and now we have a full covering. Not deep by any means - not even 1cm. But it's better than just a few miles west of here. Desperately unlucky.

However, it's a last hoorah, as the back edge of the PPN is fast approaching. There's bits & bobs of convective stuff bubbling in the Irish Sea, but I very much doubt it'd amount to anything.

So good luck to others for getting some snow. The areas initially forecasted seem to have missed out as the PPN moved further east than expected. I know through several bitter experiences that this is far from the first time this has happened.

...the boundary line between snow & rain is fairly clear - although the back edge is dragging colder air in, so the PPN is falling as snow further west oop north

A gap of non-precip forming right over me. Seems about right.

Just light rain and a bit of sleetiness so far anyway...

Snowing at the moment, quite a strange event with the initial PPN getting quite far East and then more sinking South. Had a couple of hours are drizzle and sleet, which I assume was the result of the higher dewpoints pushing East before the colder air dug back. Not very well modelled by anything that I saw earlier in the day.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.
