So in Didsbury, South Manchester we managed about a cm cover last night, although by now it has pretty much completely gone. It's always difficult getting snow cover here, right down at sea level in the Mersey Valley, along with the UHI effect. In fact I'd wager I live in one of the most snowless parts of Greater Manchester.
But today we took a trip up to East Lancs and I'm glad we made the effort!
Took the A675 and made the diversion to a little place called Tockholes. It was really, really bleak, with driving snow, deep drifts, and a freezing wind. Didn't expect to see any snow falling so that was a nice bonus. After a short walk we found a fantastic little pub, The Royal Arms. One of the best pints (and chip barms) I've ever had! :P
In terms of snow cover, one of the best places seemed to be a little place called Belmont.. It was a real winter wonderland there. Bolton itself had also done really well, that part of the NW must have caught the heaviest of the precipitation.
Perfect Sunday. :D
