It is actually snowing here now, not heavily, but it is falling, temp is at 1.7c at the moment, ground is too wet also so it won't stick.

There was a hint of sleet and soft hail recently in a shower at Kings Hill near Maidstone, 110m asl. Getting excited now.

Trough gone through here. Started as rain and rapidly turned to hail and snow with very gusty winds. Temp fell from 5.6C to 0.6C in 15 minutes. Slight covering of snow on favoured surfaces. Third snowfall of the winter here.

Crikey-that was an interesting half hour! Turned from sunshine to end of days in about 4 minutes. Wind started to get up, till it sounded like a freight train,my wx station said 50kts at one point! Horizontal hail turned quickly to snow which lasted about 20 mins. Sun out and calm again now, gotta love UK weather!

I can now declare that winter is officially here at Folkestone with me seeing some observable snowflakes flitting down (not soft hail or sleety rain). This came about after a short spell of gusty blustery rain and hail.

Yep, Spring has begun.

For some up north.

As I posted earlier, there was a PPN band, oriented W-E, about 30/40 miles wide, it's southern extremity generally/roughly sat on the northern fringe of the M62. The best of the snow appears to have fallen in Pennine areas from Lancs to W Yorks, and into N Yorks toward & into the York area itself.

It has been snowing here on and off for about three hours now (making a mockery of the Met Office regional forecast issued a couple of hours ago suggestion showers wintry on high ground when at the time it was snowing to sea level).

The snow is quite wet but there is at least a couple of centimetres on the ground,
