Really disappointing day for most of UK today with western Scotland the warm spot at 16c and probably the only area that reached average or above.
Reached just 8.3c here with rain for most of Afternoon. Fronts off the north sea bring awful weather here at this time of year.

Freezing at Wentworth today, 12c and felt like a December day....shocking for London area at this time of year

Another 'if only it was January' day today. High pressure to the north, easterly winds from a long way east and an active through bringing heavy precipitation from the continent. Had 5mm of rain already which would have been a crisp 5cm of snow had it been winter.

Our climate really is crap.

As for the current synoptics in January. Would just be the same depressing stratus dross but with a max of 6C instead of 11C. The unmitigated horror show of January 1996 comes to mind

16.1C here in southsea today felt quite nice sheltered in the sun.

Okay I know it's a tad below average but it's not shockingly below for late May.

Dark clouds, mist/drizzle, Max of 9.8C in Edinburgh, and I'll be a 1c or so colder up in the burbs - I've put the heating on and all the downstair lights

Yep, 10 C max. Dull all day. Now wet and gloomy at 9 C. Thoroughly miserable and this cold May continues. We are probably the coldest city in Europe again!

Not happy - yet again as we move into early summer - this weekend and beginning of next week shows low pressure coming in from the NE and HP building from the north - yet again this denotes colder and more unsettled air! It just would happen on a bank holiday wouldn't it?! This pattern would have been ideal for snowfall in winter would it not?

Just changing into my best suit for an Edinburgh wedding today. Last time I wore it was for another wedding in Edinburgh on March 19th. The Max temperature that day here was 12 C with 8 hours of sun...lovely!
Today we have drizzle, mist and 10 C max!!!
The Spring season here in Eastern Scotland feels like it hasn't moved on since then.
The first week of summer looks like cursing us with more of the same, cold and cloudy NE winds 😠

Unfortunately we get the easterly Spring gloom every year, you only hope it's limited to a few days. This May has been poor however. Let's hope it doesn't continue into June, I still get nightmares about the easterly dominated June 2007. Just 75 hours of sun at Leuchars that month and 79 at Dyce, both setting new lows for least sunny Junes on record. To make matters worse local thunderstorms that month led to Leuchars wettest ever June also being recorded (138mm, or three times the average rainfall).
