Haven't topped 25c here this year. Highest I've recorded is 23.9. So far this month have recorded 108mm of rain which is twice the monthly average though I accept that a lot of this came in one hour in an intense thunderstorm. It's just been a crap month.

Will be a cloudy month though unfortunately, even if temperatures are average or above average.

Seriously, although I've not taken measurements, the level of water in buckets, etc (I'm doing some major ongoing work on my garden) has been ridiculous - talking 6" deep in a couple. A few cases of flash-flooding last week round here.

But overall it's been sunnier & warmer than average, with fewer 'rain days' than normal.

A fairly typical westerly spell of weather coming up if the models have it right. No heatwave in the offing admittedly, but nothing too horrendous looking either. A few subtle hints in deepest GFS F1 of high pressure becoming more influential generally as we move into the early part of July, but too far out to be taken seriously right now.

Very changeable set of runs tonight from the GFS/ECM/Met/o 12z.

A westerly outcome and fairly cool by the weekend for most and into next week.

in other words for the time being at least, into early-mid July, summer is on hold countrywide with no real sign of any settled weather appearing anytime soon....

Summer is very much on, but those expecting never-ending settled weather need to remember where we are! Wishing for it on the other hand, well that's ok

The output looks like a continuation of average late June/early July weather, with nothing disastrous on offer.

Yes I will get shot down, but my Long Range prediction is now for a continuation of what we have now for July and August.

Today was horrendous. Constant steady DRIZZLE all day - feeling and looking like October again.

We had to cancel our SEVENTH cricket training session out of the last nine weeks.

In other words, it's rained pretty much non stop since the middle of May.

Is this period not typically referred to as the 'European Monsoon' anyway, so wet weather is not uncommon at this time of year?

I know you don't have high hopes for this summer. I respect your opinion, and bravery , for going for such a forecast. My gut feeling is this summer will end up ok - maybe a 6/10.  So far up here I'd give it a 7.

Re: sunshine, moomin is right. June is on course to be the dullest on record for many areas of England. Heathrow up to the 22nd has 71.1 hours of sun. 1981-2010 average is 205. Dullest on record was 118 hours in June 2012 and before than 130 hours in June 1990. So, it's possible that many places will have recorded their dullest June on record twice in 4 years, and both much duller than the previous record. It's like August 2010 all over again.

It's definitely been an exceptionally dull month, even more so when you consider the length of day.

At some other stations, Leeming (North Yorks) is on 76.7 hours, Rostherne (near Manchester Airport) is on 80.1 hours, Yeovilton in Somerset is the dullest place in the UK this month at 61.6 hours so far, and the sunniest place in the UK this month is Lerwick at 168.8 hours!!  Although even a sunny month in Lerwick is still dull by our standards.

Decent enough day so far today - sunshine & cloud, pleasant temps - but longer term the general set-up of LP to our N/NE is awful for NW England, feeding sh*te in on W'lies or NW'lies.
