So perhaps a big flip in met Office forecasts tomorrow with the so called brief milder periods or short lived milder spells becoming prolonged milder spells and more downgrades in the BBC monthly outlook if the models continue with this trend!?
This is the Weather online week ahead forecast: - Stays cold throughout the whole of the week.

It's the lack of cold air really!? It's simply not cold enough! I mean i thought we would easily see a -4c to -5 in the major towns and cities and perhaps -8c to -10c in rural parts but most of if not all towns and cities are at or just above freezing! - Hardly cold and the wind will prevent a frost as well. I remember last winter very well (even though it wasn't memorable), whilst we had a rubbish boring winter we still manage to have a cold spell end of November 2016 with freezing fog and odd snow grain and temperature here in Exeter got down to -4.5c around 6am on morning of 30th November 2016.
Ironically that was the coldest time of the winter 16/17. But it was still colder and we did manage a -2.5c sometime during 3rd week of Jan despite the lack of snow and benign borefest of a winter we did get some cold nights with severe frost at times!! We have yet to get to freezing so far. But then again it's early days! Just so disappointed this northerly can't even give us a sub zero night temp with a nice frosty morning to wake up to - thought that would be the least bit appropriate if it isn't going to snow.
I had so much faith in this cold spell to deliver something more, especially with a Greenland HP as well as a negative AO etc.
I mean max of 6c for daytime temp and +1.5c at night in a northerly isn't cold at all. It's a degree or two below average for heavens sake!
The good news is that winter is only one week old and things could change but with February predicted to be milder than average and the PV returning etc I am a bit weary. If we want cold and snow we need it now whilst we have the block over Arctic and Greenland as well as shorter days etc.
