In the same boat here on the sunny Isle of Walney... We woke up to a dusting on Tuesday morning that wouldn't have come up to an ants kneecap. I was hoping for more as I had told my teenage kids that we were in for some real snow (The only time they have seen snow deep enough to play in is when we have travelled inland to find some). Being out on the end of a peninsula has its advantages as we don't get as much rain as it tends to fall further inland but it is nearly always windy and it must be one of the most snowless places in the country!

Another one who lives on Walney, Tuesday was the less than 0.5cm day, dustings early on Thursday and Saturday morning which were blown away/melted.
It is times like this I miss living in Birmingham at 120m, my parents got around 10cm in their backgarden .

Sometimes you just get unlucky.
I feel I again need support in this difficult snowless moment for me. Roads closed and traffic chaos down the road in Orrell. Less than 1cm of slush on the grass at home. Nothing elsewhere. Even worse than the efforts of last week. I fear I may never leave the house again after this latest blow

Ah yes, the second half of December 2010 was virtually snowless here, we had a slight dusting but most of the whiteness was from frost - albeit a very thick rime frost that built up over days.

It does seem incredibly unlucky when you look at that map. I was living in North Bradford and we just managed 3cm on the day (18th-20th dec ish) the time the NW got plastered. Pudsey got about 3cm too but it didn't get any further east than the western fridges of Leeds (which was actually much further east than forecast). Anything that fell stuck around for Xmas. Snow seemed to fall north,east, south and west of us during the entire spell. Of course what happened November/early December made it much easier to take.
Morale of the story: Snow is never a certainty even during the most historic cold spells.
