Steam Fog

Its a very warm spell/heatwave but not one of the classics i.e., August 95,  August 03 or July 06 as they where hot and for prolonged periods of time and widespread to.

Climbing steadily towards the magic 25°C, though not all that quickly due to the southerly breeze.

There was some cloud this morning which looked to be from some kind of convergence feature. It didn't block out the sun for more than the odd few minutes, and cleared away again by not long past noon

Fantastic weather and I keep having to remind myself that it won't be gone the next day

A very parched landscape beckons in a few days. 24.0c now with hot sun beating down and the first stirrings of this NE'ly breeze that will refreshingly cooler but still very warm us for a few days.

The warmest day of the year so far here, and absolutely glorious it has been (and still is!) too. Maxed out at 26.5 °C, just a fraction away from the magic 80 °F mark.

I have finally seen 25°C IMBY

First time since 9th August last year! On this day last year it only managed 17.8°C and it was one of the better days

In fact, July 7th last year maxed at 15°C. Looks like this year's July 7th will see temps some 12°C higher

When did Ireland last see such high temperatures as those forecast this week? Looks like quite a major heatwave for them. See the latest 10-dayer - means above 20C in parts of the island:

I'm about to batten up the hatches here at my harbour location as I think it's going to get a bit rowdy today as everyone goes all mad now that it is turning out quite fine and sunny here. People are finding it difficult knowing where to put themselves, especially what with it being the weekend.

Now, where's the tin hat?

Psychological and sociological effects

In addition to physical stress, excessive heat causes psychological stress, to a degree which affects performance, and is also associated with an increase in violent crime.[26]
