As martyn has said. Wind is getting up much earlier than I'd expected and I am many miles inland. First batch of heavy rain is on the door step too. If I don't exceed 50mm in the next couple days I'll be upset. I look forward to this type of event, but at same time feel sorry for likes of martyn who have to endure the worst of it. (Caveat being, you can always move somewhere else if you don't like it)

Another very stormy night. Wind speeds peaked at 76.7mph around 22:50 although we saw some very wind speeds (not gusts) of storm force 10 or above 60mph. It was also damp with some rain though nothing to bad, about 10mm here. Now, it is failrly calm, dry and mild. Storm number 2 sets in later tonight. High wind warnings remain in force on the A87 Skye Bridge, and unlike last night we are blessed with a yellow Met Office gale warning for tonights event (thanks to it being a bit more widespread).

Take care folks.

Like you I look forward to the extreme weather, but there is a point that extreme becomes dangerous and scary. I guess we are lucky in that wind speeds have to be comparatively higher here to cause damage, there is less stuff to blow about and people are more prepared (no loose trampolines round here)

Wet and breezy just now. Very mild.

Vile!!! Sums it up really.

Over past hour stronger winds have picked up, I'd say now gusting 55-65mph.

It's cold and wet 😞 and somebody has a 3 mile cycle in it now.
