Just had a squall pass through here. It was pretty wild for a time - even the cars were slowing down.

8.8C, getting windier.

Blowing a full on gale with moderate rain. Doesn't help that it's blowing straight in from the south (where the harbour is) so my house is being very exposed at the moment.

Certainly can't complain about the lack of interesting weather, that's for sure.

Wind is just starting to pick up here after heavy rain. Gusting around 55mph at the moment, though the worst is not due for us until around 3am. MO has gust speeds for Uig Youth Hostel, 10 miles south of us of 84mph. I normally add about 10mph for our exposure. If their forecast is right we are in for a wild spell later. And just to peeve me off, the south west quadrant of my direction sensor has gone offline tonight, which is a right pain (though it has taken a sustained pounding over the past week). It being bolted up on the gable end of the house means I need calm weather to get the ladders out, and....well we've all seen the models. Probably not fixable until 2014!

Take care and stay safe.

It was a vile evening here, a squall line went through around 8.15pm, it was so wet and windy that we lost the freesat signal for a short time.

It left a very interesting trace on my barograph chart though.

The squall line that passed through around 8.30pm was very intense here in Stoke causing the delay in the Cup Match at the Britannia.

I've never seen quite an intense squall like it. The rain/hail was so intense it was causing a fog like effect. The sustained winds at this point were crazy. Car alarms were going off and everyone was stood watching from there windows.

It lasted maybe around 3-4 minutes maximum but it was fantastic to watch. Prior to this it had been blowy and pouring with rain. Once the squall passed, it calmed down and has stopped raining and everything is now still again.

I guess the wind is over for here...not so much further north.
