Back In The Autumn The Daily Express came out with a glaring heading that this winter will be the coldest in a 100 years with major snow falls and severe cold lasting for weeks. Even the more modest forcast such as net weather and The Weather Out Look all pointed to a colder and average winter.

Well We are now 2 months into this winter and I can tell you here and now that all these long range forcasts that had forcast cold have been 100% Wrong.  The CET means for December is 6.3 C and January 5.7 which is well above average and now it looks like that this winter will be one of the warmest on record.  With a CET mean between 5 and 6 Degrees Celsius likerly.  Further more this winter there has not been a single snowfall or snow covering in London and the South East and there been an amazing lack of air frost as well so far with no widespread  severe frosts below -2 C at all in London and the south east.

You only have to look at their forecast sources to completely discredit any worth, but they know as we know they are just peddling rubbish to sell papers. Typical tabloid rubbish that covers all manner of things, not just the weather.

Actually, when you think about it, the Express ALMOST had it right - only by about 3000 or 4000 miles to the west.

But yes, the whole point of them headlines was about us here in the UK expecting that kind of winter and it is turning out to be a major fail on their part.

It never made sense the headline to begin with, coldest winter in a 100 years. The coldest winter in the last 100 years for the CET area was 1962-63. If it was coldest since then, it would have been only the last 50 years, if it was colder than it would have been 270 odd years!

No point giving a joke paper like the Express anymore thought. Of course, the problem is they blame the failed forecast on the Weathermen, and their thick readers believe it
