It's a stinker now with wind touching 48mph and heavy rain, it's really driving it into everything.

Sounds like the worst winds are this evening.

Very wet with persistent sleety rain here currently. The wind is also picking up, gusting to over 40mph. Nothing compared with some other places but breezy enough.

Extremely stong winds here, quite scary. I`m sure there`s going to be some structural damage if the wind doesn`t moderate soon.

Most aircraft aproaching the airport are doing go-arounds, it`s just too windy for them to land safely.

Observations between 6.30 pm last night and 9 pm currently.

LAST NIGHT: Clear breaks at first, then there were some showery rain in the small hours.
THIS MORNING: The brightness held on for most of the morning despited the increased cloud cover.
THIS AFTERNOON: Cloudy with rain, the rain became heavy and squally by 5 pm before it cleared away to give a last minute chink of brightness. However, there were a couple of moderate showers with a small bit of thunder.
CURRENT:  Clear, broken cloud.          7.1 C.          82% humidity.        Dewpoint: 4.2 C.           Fresh south west winds.          Rising slowly to 989 mb.

WINDS: Calm last night, then moderate to fresh south this morning which became as strong to gale force in the afternoon but eased back to moderate to fresh south west by evening time.
AIR QUALITY: Fresh and clean but since this afternoon's heavy rain, there is that "farm yard" smell in the air. The town's drainage system trying to cope with the rain?
VISIBILITY: Very good this morning, then poor in afternoon before it became good again in evening.
COMFORT FACTOR: Damp and fresh this morning, then it turned wet 'n' wild in the afternoon. Now things has settled down again with a fresh breeze trying it's best to remove some of the dampness.
RAINFALL (in mm): 7.2
TEMPERATURES (in C):         Max: 8.6 at 11 am.             Min: 3.3 at 2.30 am.
PRESSURE (in mb):            Max: 1002.9 at 4 am.           Min: 988.7 at 5 pm.
