Is this it? What's heading across here now and up the country? If so it's even less of an event than I expected, or is this just some random front ahead of the main destructive behemoth I've been reading about?

Still little of note. Some splodges of moderate rain such as over South Wales across to here at the moment and last nights stuff through the Irish Sea. No more than a light breeze blowing.

So far, hardly a fart from "Big Bertha" but she is undergoing development as we speak

Heavy rain on and off since 5am here, wind got up in the last 90 minutes. Just had lightning and thunder too. Radar perhaps suggests a squall line, aligned with the M3?

Very heavy rain and frequent thunder and lightning here this morning.

Very rare to get thunder from frontal rain in these parts.

Clouds are moving at an astonishing rate: they must be very low.

It would be really helpful if all those posting had their location on their signatures? It's no good telling us what's happening in your backyard,if we don't know where your backyard is!

Morning all, quite cloudy with heavy drizzle under that all too familar strong southerly wind. I am wondering what that squally stuff already affecting Southern England is going to do once that reaches here by noon time. Will we get it in the neck or it'll bypass us to thenorth of us.
The sun is forecasted to break through as we go into the afternoon - and ironically that is when I am expecting the winds to be at it's strongest here at this end as ex-Bertha continue to deepen on it's northwards journey towards Scotland and merging with the "parent" low off to the north of Scotland. Usually we get the strongest winds ahead of a depression system (the leading warm front), but here it looks like occurring at the "rear end" - behind the cold front - but at least it'll be coming in from the south west where I'll be more sheltered from it anyway.
