Around 5" to 6" this morning after some more showers yesterday evening.  Beautiful sparkling frost covered snowfields in bright sunshine.  The "Another World" mountain boarding centre above Halifax is reporting 8" to 10" - similar height to us I think.

What a stunning day!   Now looking forward to this being topped up in middle of the week.  Will we reach 12" of snow in the next few days....?

Light snow now falling. So light, you can count the flakes. Temp has risen from -4c to 0c in the past 5 hours, DP just on the right side of marginal.

I'm sure someone will correct me, but I'm sure there was speculation about the 29/12/00 snowfall arising from a polar low.

Big polystyrene hail shower last night around 1am left a good cover, which was then sprinkled with light snow for good measure. Although most surfaces had cover this AM, rain showers have been eating away at it, as well as a rain/hail sleet shower around an hour ago. Pretty grim out there now, hoping for clear skies and a good frost later.

Well somewhat predictably the ppn has fallen apart just as it approaches sheffield, so it's gone cloudy but nothing falling from the sky.... Dang.

Been a strange day. Started snowing lightly then turned to rain with the temp at 0.4c. Now snowing again and 1.0c. Existing snow cover has taken a hit , slushy now.

Well some of you may think I got quite a lot of snow here last night judging by my reports but not really, we had a little drive today and as Saint said yesterday elevation was a huge factor last night. We first went to Newton Heath which is across the "border" into Manchester and there was no snow at all, not even on the cars. Then we went up Oldham Road towards Oldham town centre and once you got to 130m upwards the snow was completely covering all surfaces and at a decent depth, was like another world. Then 150m+ there was snowmen in peoples gardens. So roughly the snowline last night was around 80m upwards, then the proper thick stuff above 130m.  In fact I was lucky to even get some light cover, thankfully we did. So glad it wasn't snowless.

Kent members: Have a look at the radar at the moment (circa 16:45)...the front that was clearing SE seems to have stalled as it cleared the coast, and is now 'back building'. Looks like things pepping up a little? Any reports?

I'm in the office in Margate at present, but will be heading out on the bike shortly, looking for signs in the bike lamp

I went out for a pretty chilly and soggy bike ride today. Saw a few flakes of snow in the air on the top of Caesar's Camp at about 175m. So technically that is two days of falling snow but I've seen heavier dandruff on my morning commute.

An hour or so of light snow, but little settling. A clearance should help temperatures to fall, so ice becomes a hazard as well as further snow showers forecasted for later.

Light rain turned to light snow and we have a dusting but the radar isn't showing much more.
