Off to bed. Looking a terrible night for the majority of ordinary people in the UK.

This is turning into a disaster (for Labour).

A bit like Gandalf's latest post.

Oh just give it a rest. You're trashing this thread.

Yo yo yo. 148-3 to the 3 to the 6 to the 9, representing the ABQ, what up, biatch?

you only have to look at the rhetoric from all but the conservatives to see who are the winners...

Right result for the country...  hopefully

that Nuneaton result is very good for the Tories.... very poor for Labour..

I will turn in now. This has been fun - thanks to all of you on here. You're a terrific bunch.

I expect to wake up to a Tory majority govt. But Cameron needs to come up with something for Scotland otherwise the Union is fooked.

So Kellner concedes he and other pollsters have been talking bollocks.

Sad to see the Limp Dumbs taking a hit tonight with a few big names likely to go down.

I'd much rather have seen Labour eviscerated.

A 34% swing to the SNP in West Dunbartonshire! Incredible.

Shocking result for Labour....as a leftie I am going to have to live with a few months of Tory triumphalism....with the SNP virtual clean sweep in Scotland, the future of the union is in real peril...imho...stormy times ahead methinks...an upsurge in English nationalism is inevitable too....my one hope for a bright spot is the likelihood of Farage losing in Thanet...who can blame Cameron if he chooses to visit Thanet tomorrow!

Certainly the most interesting election results in years.

When the dust settles I think it's a fair bet the Union is finished longer term.

Murphy gone. It could be a wipeout for Labour in Scotland.

Significant result in Swindon South.

Atkinson, who is a very able candidate, beaten by the less than impressive incumbent Buckland.

Ed's done.

Results seem to be particularly slow in this election compared to previous campaigns........

Hughes gone. Not even close.

What's Hughes going to do after being a serial politician for 32 years?

Well, that's not my problem, quite frankly.

It looks to me the after effects of the Blair 1997 landslide as far as the LibDems are concerned is finally gone. LibDems gained a lot of seats through tactical votes in that election that were really safe Tory seats, Ed Davey is an example. Some LibDem seats were gained in that Blair period from being seen as an alternative to Blair.

A sad night for the LibDems.
