Here has seen 77.0mm in the past four days. Look back one more day and it's 81.2mm, while for the past 6 the total stands at 94.5mm which is more than 20mm above even the most extreme of the GFS 5-day accumulated precipitation projections for the period (based on runs on Tue 18th August).

Despite seeing only 4.2mm across the first 12 days, the monthly total stands well above average at 114.8mm to date. That's a whisker below 240% of the LTA for 26 days of August.

Even if no more rain was to fall this month, the final anomaly looks to exceed 200%. Factoring in the dry spell, this is about as impressive as December 2013, which was largely dry in the first half but then had an absolute deluge throughout the second half.

As it is, showers are likely tomorrow and there could be some intense rain around for a time this weekend, so who knows how high the numbers will climb?

Any stats for that - much of this rain feel in the space of 3 to 4 hours.

All roads into and out of the airport ground to a halt for a time as the worst rain perfectly coincided with the crossover between the early and late shifts.  I have a video of the extent of the flooding in one of the airside road tunnels (not open to the public) but can't publish it on a public forum. Sorry.
