0.3c Last night and tonight it will turn milder with cloud an drizzle and a low of 2c. It looks like what was forecasted to be a bitterly cold Saturday night with Severe frost will now be another let down. - At least we had one airfrost to wake up to (whoop whoop!)- but it has still not dipped below freezing this Winter and the temperature is rising sharply.

And how can you have had an air frost when you say the temperature has not dipped below freezing this winter?

-1.6C has been the lowest from this spell which is the coldest temperature since last week

Goes without saying that it belongs firmly in the latter category so far failing to get as cold as last May managed or indeed December which got down to -2C.

Today also marks three years since the temperature last reached -5C which is just ridiculous and can't imagine this has ever happened before

With -10 almost reached last night I don't think that graphic may prove too far wrong by the end of the weekend (except for the snow risk and its impact).

The lowest minimum I can see for last night was-9.5°C at Kinbrace. Not sure if anywhere went lower?

A mahoosive -0.3c overnight, slight frost, cloudy skies, it may as well rain old y-fronts.
Not even a ray of sunshine.

And the lame excuse for a UK cold spell results in an overnight low of -3.1c.

Brilliantly crisp and sunny here yesterday (Sat), ground frozen throughout the day. One to treasure in this sunless winter, even if we didn't get any snow hereabouts.

Woke up this morning & the temp was 0.4c. By 9.30am, it'd shot up to 1.0c. Currently 1.4c.

Lying snow is slowly slushifying underneath.

So as this so called "Coldest spell since 2013' has been a disappointment for many in terms of low temperatures and amounts of snow. Let's face it a cm or 2cm's of slushy mess and a low of +1c is nothing to write home about for mid winter so I was wondering if any of you believe the hurricane Alex which was brewing in the southern Azores put a big dent in our cold spell? Ie. reduced it's longevity and severity? Anyone? Without Hurricane Alex our weather pattern could have been different?? What do you think?

I think this is a thread for posting low temperatures associated with this cold snap. I suspect if the models are correct, despite the double digit minima so far the coldest night may possibly be to come (although there is time for that to change).

If you're complaining that it wasn't cold in the mildest part of the UK where it was not forecast to be overly cold perhaps the moaning/gloating thread is where you want to post?

I feel there is potential for the next 3-4 days to be remarkably cold ones here in the SE with 2 possible ice days.

Today, it is currently cloudy bust still just 1C. Perhaps a max of 2-3 at best.

Tonight, skies are expected to be clear, allowing a sharp frost. Min -3 to -5?

Tomorrow should be an ice day in my rural location, despite the sunshine. The Met Office forecast: "Despite the sun, temperatures may stay below freezing in some rural areas."

On Wednesday some computer generated forecasts are indicating the risk of freezing fog and low cloud. To me, that could mean that temperatures could remain below freezing all day in places.

Thursday is also expected to be a cold one, although temperatures should climb above freezing, possibly for the first time since today.

So, certainly an interesting period, even if snow isn't on the cards!

Temps IMBY have been rising steadily for the last 36+ hours. Not flying up, just slowly increasing. We had a high of 0.6c on Saturday, and it was actually quite steady around the 0.1c - 0.6c mark until the early hours of Sunday morning, when it began to inch up.

When I left this morning, it was at 2.7c.
