September is better than April IMO - the days are shorter, but unlike April, September is a warm month, and is more or less the same as June. That's why I often think of the 'summer period' being June to September, or at least the first half of September.

Although July and August are the sunniest months in % terms, at least in Eastern, central and southern England. For a month with such long daylight, June really doesn't impress at all, usually just a bit sunnier or even duller than August on average.

Sun factor 7 forecast for Winchester on Sunday; that used to be the max you'd see advertised. (It's now 8)

Yes I would regard September as a summer month, mostly warm and the garden shows no sign of change.
October and November are the autumn months I find more tedious , lack of warmth or exciting weather of any kind.

Regarding the development of Spring, have beech trees come into leaf where people are? The one in my garden is still completely bare (as are a number of unknown trees), think it's later than normal but only been here a couple of years.

Santon Downham was top spot today 24.9c I believe. Hottest May Day for 5 years apparently though I find that hard to believe.

Can't wait for the northerlies for some clear skies and warmer sunshine. Cold and foggy here and 8 C. We'll probably have another 4 days of this easterly cold spell before the northerly comes next weekend 😆😆

Actually we have a great climate but in recent years the UK's prevailing climate seems to have decided to disappear. Our prevailing climatic winds are SWly and those winds give lovely conditions to the east of Scotland with dry air and sunshine. The weather is rubbish the climate is not (unless that has changed permanently).

Vile this morning with cool grey muck and thunderstorms nearby.

Already 23c in Lakenheath at 10am. Very impressive for early May.

I wouldn't even claim London has a "great" climate though. We are about 1,000 annual hours of sun, several degrees of summer max and a week of annual snow cover short of a great climate even down here.

25-26c today going by nearby stations. Avoided any cumulus clouds that all formed to the north of here so a day of unbroken sunshine. Glorious. I'm even a little sunburnt.

A pleasantly sunny day here albeit coolish on the coast (even it did reach 17°C for a while in Aberdeen). Went for a walk in the warm Royal Deeside sunshine where I could admire the daffodils in all their yellow glory in temperatures over 22°C. Very nice. Still sunny here in Aberdeen now albeit with hints of haziness in places which are perhaps a sign of mistiness to come.

Only 12 C down in Leith today and a chilly relentless East wind. We did see sun after 11am but I can see the fog which will roll back in soon

Got an unexpectantly warm feeling max of 18C here as the wind had a bit of a Southerly elemental to it keeping the cloud and cold off to our east. Inland it reached 23C not too far away.
