Even a day into the month it's not very clear. Likely average, but if the low for the second week develops a little more South-West it could be quite warm (but not necessarily springlike), more to the East and it could get very chilly. As a result I'm going to go for 8.81C despite expecting it to be more than a degree from average. I'm just not sure which side!!!

Looking at all the models I can't see anything other than a cold unsettled and somewhat wintry April. 7.0c is my guess with some very chilly interludes throughout. A long wait for spring this year.

A relatively cool 7.8c please.  With cold uppers being forecast to be fairly common in our vicinity in the next 10 days at least, the recipe is there for a month laden with heavy convective April showers and chilly nights.

Thanks GW

April was my favourite month of 2015 with high pressure bringing warm sunny days,12 days without a cloud in the sky(apart from high cirrus), bringing a Cet of 9 with a large day to night temperature range. This year is quite the opposite with a much more unsettled picture. It will be interesting to see how the Cet responds to this..

My Question is as to Weather Forecasting: Is the Future Always set in stone or can Events in the Present Change the course of the Future?

I wonder if April's CET will finish lower than December's which was 9.7c the last time November (9.5c) and December (9.7c) were higher than April was 1934

GW - not having a pop, just wondering... have you stopped doing the list of entries received for the month?
