Did they put up a slide for traffic? Did they leave it off because it shows an increase ;-)

Back from my perambulation.

This is  getting farcical !

Builders merrily at work, no sign of any distancing - what's the likelihood of all of them coming from the same family  - slim I would have thought !  A group of geriatrics   thumping balls about on a DIY golf course.  The village mains street   looked normal, with parked cars, groups of woman with kids  "nattering"  totally blocking teh pavement and traffic zooming about !  Finally, I was forced to re-route as a bunch of Muppets -  2 couples, a load of kids and dogs had set up a ruddy picnic right across a bridle path.

Either we are doing this sodding' lock down or we aren't - I'm as pissed off by it as anyone and a point will be reached when I'll start questing how rigorous I want to be myself on the basis that at the margin, if the whole thing is in disrepute it won't matter a  tinkers cuss what I do

We’re no longer hearing stories of police maintaining lockdown rules either. Am I wrong to think something fishy is going on?

Daily slides

Cases

Hospital admissions down 10% on last week

Critical care bed usage is starting to fall

Deaths a faster decline likely in a week or two

It’s quite possible that after this current three week lockdown period, we’ll need to tighten measures further, rather than relax them, if the R0 figure is not low enough.

I’ve found the answer to my previous question and indeed there was no traffic slide. I find that quite suspicious and believe it is showing a large spike.  They’ve been showing this slide for weeks now.
Maybe they’re hoping it’s a blip?

Hancock also ducked the question on traffic that was asked.

Too many not keeping their distance. So many hands on food. So many hands touching payment keypads. All indoors.

I completely disagree, we may have been wrong but we will not know until this is over. We have no idea what may happen re 2nd waves etc.

You can’t say it’s not true for certain Nick.  You can only say in your opinion it’s not true and you may well be right.  But we can’t possibly know the outcome yet as we’re a long way from the end and we don’t know whether other countries have really beat this.

That's not true. We do know we timed it wrong.

Whatever happens, we were wrong, and NZ/Aus/Greece/SK were right.

If there is a vaccine, they will have lost fewer lives, and had a lesser impact on their economy.

If there is no vaccine they will have bought more time to increase capacity and take advantage of better treatments on the back of more research into and understanding of the virus, and had a lesser impact on their economy.

This is not something 'only time will tell'; it is something we can say with certainty right now.

The lockdown continues to ease. A day after opening B&Q in Gillingham, 5 more branches have opened in Kent.

I suspect there'll be much more of this to come, with a creep of businesses claiming to be "essential".

Yep most children in today since lockdown 31, parents much more relaxed and in fact have to be asked to be moved on because of the chatting.

No parent picking up or dropping wearing a mask a first.

Local car wash open today, Local postmaster has lifted his restrictions in his small shop apparently his feed up with no back up from police.

Local Aldi now open to 10pm

Loads of traffic about in fact parking up three mile hill to get in Hylands park for free if anybody knows the area.

Lockdown around this part I’m afraid to say is naturally ending.

Not sure what people are on but I guess just generally feed up I don’t agree by the way.

With the new cases rate seeming to find its level around 4-5k a day, we won't be relaxing any restrictions soon. In fact these will have to become tougher if numbers are to come down. I suspect supermarket shopping is causing a lot of new infections. A load of people fairly close by for an hour or more, the chances in these places of infection must be the highest. New rules for shopping, perhaps compulsory masks here.

Greece the economy will be even more fked than it is now if they don't reopen in the next month or two. It is also a place where 20% unemployment is acceptable, which would never wash in the UK.

Germany and SK are the best examples imo for any first world high population country to follow. The key common ground between them: maximum testing. They at least will know where they stand and which parts of their country are being hit the hardest. This will be especially key if there is no effective vaccine or therapy because it prevents the repeat complete lockdowns that even the Oz and NZs of this world can suffer. Test, test, test!

Interesting that for the Oxford vaccine test to work, there has to be enough cases out in the community for the people vaccinated to encounter. One quote was “we’re racing to catch the end of this wave”.

Could this seemingly organic relaxation of the lockdown be deliberate to give enough cases to allow a decent vaccine test?
