Raining in Bamber Bridge near Preston. Was snow for most of the morning. Nothing stuck anywhere.

Maybe the roads will stay clear in many places throughout minimising disruption.  If it can't settle on them when its snowing and -1.4c , not sure when it will!

Mainly light snow continues here with the odd heavier burst. Disappointing that the earlier attempt at some accumulations has vanished completely, with pretty much all of it thawed away now.

Light sleet now. Melting continues. People on social media once again slagging the Met O off.

Mind you schools continue to close and businesses are posting up that they are closing early. Ridiculous.

Looking on the cams, the M62 is clear over the tops, with the verges showing a disappointingly modest accumulation. Even the Cat & Fiddle cam  in the Peak District has only a thinnish covering, whilst the Flash Bar cam  is a bit better, but I've seen it way better.

Last hope (outside of Scotland/far North of England) is that, as the low moves east and pulls down colder air behind it, the tail of the feature brings a period of better snow overnight. Tommy Shaven-knackers did explicitly mention this as a likelihood.

It can do one now as anything that comes down is likely merely to get in the way tomorrow without it being truly memorable. Off to the gym - was really looking forward to not having to go, but...😁

Look at these images and weep!

Just horrid stuff in my opinion, who likes slushy wet snow?

Can’t wait for the mild weather to return.

Snow has bee dripping from the trees for the past hour as the snow has turned very light.
Up to 0.6c.
5cm on the ground but no disruption as has not settled on the road.
However none of the models showed any accumulation until this afternoon.  So plenty of time for a good event.

My home cctv showing no further settling. Coleague who lives in Bolton (near Rivi Pike) has about 1-2cm on grass, nothing on roads.

Plenty of snow falling, but just too marginal for big accumulations away from higher altitude areas. A sadly familiar tale since 2013 here (although we had about 5cm Boxing Day night 2014 in very marginal conditions IMBY).

Been snowing most of the day here in north notts. Showed promise of settling several times and as others have said it just keeps getting washed away with a slight temperature rise.

It's now raining moderately. This could allow the cold air to break through and there is an area of snow to the south according to NetWeather.

But the fact remains the cameras over the M62 tell the story for today at least.

I do admit, however, that I hadn't noticed that the amber warning didn't take effect until 3pm today. In amongst the many yellows that I was e-mailed about that subtly escaped me.

Been a great snow event here since Nov 21 that recorded 8cm here same thing in Jan and Nov 21 8cm level.  There was 1ft drifted snow on the fences along the park area and 15cm against my car wheel from last night blizzard alike condition that pasted the posts and top of my wall toward the roof. Was very emotional when I arrived Birmingham airport at 1.45am to greeted with 4cm of snow on the metal posts top so I took a handful to hold tight and happy to feel and see the snow again since Nov 21.   Usual March solar input slowly melting but still decent cover on most parts so should freeze when dark arrive for another batch of snow in the early hours again.  Hope to get to 10cm barrier if possible as the snow on the grass must be still around 5-6cm.  Yesterday was snowing all day and if was in Dec I would had got a foot of snow by then.  Happy that the snow drought ended.

A weird graupel/snow mix here as the heavier stuff arrives. Think we’ll be too low down here for significant settling snow.

We had a burst of moderate-heavy snow here in the city not long ago, but it's faded back to very light/intermittent now. Still, what's falling is definitely snow and not rain.

Different story back home, where it's been a 'wintry mix' for the last few hours.

Quite a heavy burst just now. It seems to be becoming a bit less marginal now as well. The temperature and dew point has dropped a little, so it should be able to settle a bit more readily.

I think it's been a really miserable day here today. Blustery wet snow falling for a lot of the day. No real accumulations. A tiny bit of slush at times. Not nice snow. Just one of those days I fear leaving the house
