Although temperatures aren't matching the phenomenal November of 1994, there are environmental similarities. I remember clearly driving to school as a young teacher and marvelling at the fact that ox-eye daisies, red clover and flowering grasses on the verges and roundabouts were evocative of May. The same is true this year.

In the late 70s, after we'd moved to Kent, I reckoned to have all the leaves swept up and put away by the end of half term which was then then usually the last week of October or hanging over a day or two into November. Now Sussex isn't so different from Kent, but I'd say that two-thirds of the leaves here are still on the trees now.

This year November doesn't seem mild at all tbh

Standard chilly wet fare . The temp may be a little above average but not by much on a MTD basis
It has felt like pretty standard autumn temps since mid October here , it may be a case of raised expectation of what is normal following 4 warm Novembers in the last 5

2011, 2015 and 1994 are the Novembers that really stick out as exceptionally warm in my memory , they were all way balmier at this point with 15c breached often and effortlessly

With such a mobile setup so far in November, the nights are too warm for meaningful CET reductions.  Daytime maxes might be chilly but without frosts the best we can expect is a slightly above average month.

Its the lack of long cold nights which keeps the soil warm, the plants flowering and the leaves on the trees.  I’ve had a few lows of 4-5C but for all of about half an hour.  The temp then rises again due to wind and cloud.

The viburnum in the front garden bears witness to the warm soil, incidentally, with hardly any leaves having yet fallen (even in the recent gale, not much came off). Normally by this time it'd be half-bare...

By the looks of things, I think we'll probably finish quite close to average, as of now. There's nothing particularly cold showing on the models, but also nothing overly mild either. It's pretty much the conditions you would expect at this time of year, though it's wetter.

Just need some more cold nights like the last 2 to help the CET down for my guess

Sadly this week looks like a mildish wet borefest with cloud cover pumping up the minima
