Just starting this thread on DEW's behalf whilst he is away.

We've now reached the final weekend of what has been a thoroughly wet and miserable spring in this part of the world and once again, this morning is starting off on yet another wet and miserable note with yet more rain which is clearly not welcome here given the recent flooding events here.

Currently, the temperature here in Edinburgh is around 12°C with the wind coming straight in from off the North Sea once again.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

After a dull and damp start since 10.2 mm of rain fell overnight, it is gradually brightening up making the current 15 C & mid 90% H feel clammy and humid under light wind.

5th day of heavy rain....our total nearing 200mm for May which is 300% 😠 This Spring has been ridiculous. Each month much wetter and duller than normal, shocking!

We did have a drier interlude during the latter part of this morning and it did get slightly brighter for a while, but even this wasn't enough to bring us any much needed blue sky or sunshine.

Within that period, the temperature got up to around 15°C for a very brief period, but even that isn't anything to write home about at this time of year given that we are now less than a week away from the start of the meteorological summer.

As I write, the temperature here in Edinburgh is around 14°C.

Another sunny and warm day on the paradise Isle of Sheppey, by the looks of it. The overnight rain stopped by 9 AM, then the sun came out and the temperature's peaked at 20.7 - a couple of degrees above average, but what you'd expect these days. It reached 27C indoors, upstairs.

Meanwhile in Berkshire, where I spent the day, it was a day of very strong sunshine alternating with cloud and brief showers... and, thanks to less sun, around 18C as a high - average, in other words.

A very disappointing grey day here today. Heavy rain this morning and murky all day with a high of 13.0°C briefly.

Currently grey murky and damp at 12.3°C.

The rain has now cleared away to our north and we even have a bit of blue sky, although the weather gods have a bit of a cheek in giving us that given the wet and miserable day which we've just experienced, and given that it's so late in the day now with the Sun about to set.

Having said that though, we are now into the time of year when we have perpetual twilight all night as a result of the nights now being so short and this means that if we can get any clear sky to our north during the night, we might just about manage to get our first view of that for this year although I wouldn't exactly bank on that being the case.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 12°C.

Turned out quite sunny for most of today with a peak of 18.6 C at 1.50 pm. Only thing that let the side down was a brisk onshore SW breeze so I've not been able to sit outside for too long but perfect for walking to visit my mum at the care home.

A slightly dismal morning turned into a beautiful afternoon and evening. Signs of possible convection did not turn into anything of interest. A bit disappointing that.

A bright start to the day with a gentle breeze. I think a walk is called for before all that changes!

Just had our 3rd torrential downpour, this time with largish hail

By 0900 this morning my nearest SEPA station (Swanston) has recorded 203.7mm for the month which is 344% of average

Sunshine this month is woefully low at 92.4 hrs which is only 47%

However, the mean temperature is +2.8 C above normal

A nice average day here. Mostly dry, a high of 18.4 (which is bang on average - remember, folks, the temperature doesn't sit at the high for ages, most of the day is below it), a breeze for once and variable cloud.

It's presently partly cloudy, 15.4 (dew a refreshingly low 10.1).

I just got back this evening from Gdansk & Sopot (N. Poland on Baltic sea) where it was +30c with sunshine, so feels freezing here!!

The last few days of May are traditionally some of the sunniest of the year here on average, yet very little if any sun this time around. A low grey drizzly morning with shocking humidity.

A gentle drizzle started at 10am, just as I had finished mowing and was putting the mower away! Good timing. We have had a Yellow Warning of Thunderstorms here. Here's hoping. 😁

A bit of dampness (2.4mm today) has given way to murky and very humid conditions... the sun's making fleeting appearances again and, as you'd expect given that tropical airmass, temperatures shoot up quickly when it's out.

Currently mostly overcast with the sun (behind the cloud) bright enough to cast shadows, 17.3, dew 15.6. The high so far is 17.5.
