Out in the garden earlier, with the neighbour's cocker spaniel... he went for an unscheduled swim in the pond and came out very muddy and smelly (I used the hose pipe to sluice him down). All good practice for when I get my own dog in the not too distant future!

It's not too bad out there in the shade. Very humid, true, but not hot, and the breeze masks the humidity well. It's also wafting in snippets of music from the funfair a mile down the road. "What is love, baby don't hurt me...." takes me right back to my school days, as it was frequently played on Invicta FM on the school coach. I guess they're aiming to attract mums and dads of my age, rather than the kids!

23.1, dew 18.2, with plenty of slightly hazy sunshine. A refreshing ENE'ly breeze, and the high so far is 23.9.

Edit: in fact many of those lows were actually from yesterday morning. The actual 6pm-6am minimum at Portland was 19.9C according to the Met Office.

Only 18 C in Edinburgh at 1300 despite full but hazy sunshine. The sea breeze is kicking in, just been down in Leith where it felt chilly!
The sky is strange today, very hazy with a coppery look to the sun, pollutants?

This means that with today being the last day of the month, this month's highest maximum will go down as being 23.1°C which is very poor fare for what is supposed to be our warmest month of the year.

Maybe you might be better moving to the Scottish Borders though as it's currently around 23°C here in Hawick and it's still completely sunny.

So 19 C was the maximum in this part of Edinburgh with a NE wind off the cold sea. Sunny all day but you needed to be in the sun to feel warm.

Here in Hawick, more cloud is now building up but it's still a very nice evening here with decent spells of sunshine at times.

It's also warmer than at this time last night and as at 8pm BST (19:00 UTC) the temperature here in Hawick is still up at around 21°C with a very muggy feel.

Unlike last night, I don't think that anywhere will be getting a ground frost tonight.

Another very uncomfortable, sweaty night, even warmer than last night so far!

Partly cloudy (with a big circular mass of cloud to the east and SE, there are storms there), dry, calm.

20.0, dew 18.0, with the low so far being 19.6. Bear in mind it's half four in the morning, that's pretty damned hot!

Yesterday's high was a modest sounding 23.9, but it's the humidity... that dewpoint is stifling.

The forecast calls for more sleep-deprived zombies on the roads today. There were more crashes than normal in the area yesterday and I'd not be surprised if the same happens again today...

Another comfortable night, 12 C minimum so not as cold as the previous night at 5 C
Some patchy rain overnight but bright spells already
Some days above normal in July but nothing above 23 C some cooler days also. Our mean temperature will be confirmed as about average later today
It was also a dry but dull month

White Rabbits!!

Today is the first day of yet another brand new month which in this instance is also the final month of the meteorological summer.

However, July at least ended on a decent note with yesterday being its sunniest day as a total of 13.0 hours of sunshine was recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 12.1 hours of sunshine at Charterhall which is the only major station in the Scottish Borders Council area.

In complete contrast to that though, today has started off on a mostly cloudy note here in Hawick with only the odd sunny interval at times.

Currently around 15°C here in Hawick.

20C dewpoint here, which feels atrocious, and the portable a/c hose is dripping all over the place upstairs! (I've got a hose attached to the cold air side, running along the hallway and blowing cold air through a gap in the stairs... the downstairs of the house is pleasant enough, even if it's tropical upstairs and outside. There's a separate hose venting the hot air outside).

There's plenty of other places with silly dewpoints too, loads of 19s and the following reporting 20 or more as a max so far today. Bear in mind this would have been noteworthy just a few years ago (when 17 or 18 was the typical max, and 20 was unheard of), but now? Nobody even bats an eyelid.

At least it's only 23.7C outside, with a slight sea breeze... it'd feel even worse if I was inland.
