Only just seen this.....

So very sorry to learn of your news Darren. I do hope that yesterday's procedure went to plan and that your wife is being made as  "comfortable" as possible by her care team now. The next period will of course be daunting for you all and I join with all the other members in here hoping for a successful chemotherapy treatment and a positive prognosis thereafter.

It goes without saying that we'll all be thinking about your wife, you and your family.

Hi Saint,

It's getting out in public now, and as this bit of the forum is members only, I'll tell you - my wife has breast cancer. She had an operation today, will be starting chemotherapy soon, then more surgery after that. We're going to have to cancel our holiday we had booked for next April, and just trying to keep going with normal life whilst all this happens.

Thanks for all of your concern.

So sorry to hear your news, Darren. 😞 We are all thinking of you and your family and sending you our best. I've seen up close the miracles they can do these days with treatment. I had cancer at 27 and saw many women with breast cancer in the wards. Truly inspiring how so many people are so strong and come out the other side thanks to that strength and modern medicine. Try to stay positive. 🙂

I was 27 when I myself was struck down by a very nasty illness in 2007, namely Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). This encompasses two different forms; Crohns' Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. At the moment it is incurable and can only be controlled with ongoing medication. However I heard on the grapevine a while ago that a professor at King's College Hospital in London had developed a vaccine which he believed will one day both cure people like me who suffer from the condition, and protect those who don't have it. Modern medicine is indeed a great thing, and had it not been for the availability of the treatments I have been given, I would very likely have had to undergo surgery a while ago.

Grateful Darren- and not just because I scraped into the 20. At one point I thought you'd only manage top 10, but you seem to have taken on more and I hope that's not going to be too tall an order for you. Truly best wishes.

Only just discovered Darren's news, so can I also wish them all the best. My mum also had breast cancer and had a mastectomy, intenstive treatment and radiotherapy, that was 10 years ago and she's still with us today aged 75.

I do still hope that I can make more information available to you ultimately, but I've not had any opportunity yet to do so.
