Not that bad at the moment down here along the south coast with top gusts of 56.5mph being recorded a Thorney, 58mph over at Bournemouth, and 52mph at St Catherine's point on the IOW. 

Waiting for these bad winds to arrive as nothing to warrant the amber warning yet.

Just heard a loud bang and thought "shit, there goes my roof" even though the wind doesn't actually seem that strong. Turned out to be the shampoo holder coming off the tiled wall (held on by suction cups) in the bathroom. My nerves are shot to pieces, and so is mother's.

Indeed it is rather rough at this end but I've actually experienced worse in the past where I think I'm being sheltered by the hilly built up area to my SW for now. Also not at all that much in the way of rain with 0.6 mm so far. However, sadly the worse is yet to come this afternoon and possibly into this evening.

Let's get this sorry excuse of a "winter" behind us ASAP and roll onto the first proper spring-like warmth of the Spring season.

yes so far judging by the reports here the most serious conditions have been much further north than the original amber area as it was yesterday. 

Not even much rain here, just drizzle blowing sideways. Certainly nothing out of the ordinary so far. 

Certainly very windy here, with gusts around 28-32mph according to a local PWS on weatherunderground, but not outstandingly bad (so far!).  On xcweather Headcorn Aerodrome reports 26 to 46mph winds and Biggin Hill (more exposed on top of the North Downs) 45 to 64mph.

Sky darkening here. I reckon this will be the strongest winds.

No heavy rain here as yet and the strong gusts have died down. Having read this thread I looked at the rain radar and saw the squall line hasn’t reached us yet, so I think I’ll carry on ironing and leave the shopping trip for later!  

Ian, Your post made me laugh but I think a repair to your shampoo holder will be cheaper than a roof repair!

The one approaching Reading appears to be a developing feature for the southern and south eastern quadrant of the country. Not good at all.

Well that was a pussycat here. Just a bit of rain and barely any uptick in the wind strength. On the radar it looks much worse SW of here .

Looking at the top gust that were just linked away from the hills the winds up north have only been in the 60-75mph range. There was one gust of 93mph in Wales but that was at Aberdaron - a peninsula sticking out in the Irish sea.

But unlike the one up north this one has had a lot more lightning returns ;)
