Just reading the BBC under article comments. The quality of many of them is absolutely dire. Could understand if it was the Fail trying to generate revenue through clicks but on the BBC it is beyond the pale. It reinforces my view that the British population is pretty thick! In comparison most of us here are a beacon of sanity.

Canada, Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain and Oman (possibly also Afghanistan) have all confirmed cases that have arrived from Iran. Supposedly Iran has 61 cases which sounds like complete bull. Reckon it’s well over a thousand.

6 more cases this morning in Bahrain and 3 more in Kuwait all from people coming back from Iran. Iran must have completely lost control , I imagine the conditions in Qom in particular are dire.

From what I have read, it is UV which kills the virus. The virus can apparently survive on surfaces for 5 days or more, but not if exposed to UV.

Iran gets a lot of intense UV in the summer months, but that only works for surfaces exposed to the sun.

Extraordinary. Viruses are endemic throughout the world and you’d have to exterminate a whole raft of species to eliminate ones that pose little threat in the host animal - and the disruption to the ecosystem and balance in nature would be huge. For example bats consume vast quantities of mosquitoes that carry a range of nasty diseases, so you’d then have to wipe out mosquitoes and so on.
