I have to say that I have been extremely impressed with the official UK response so far.

I've not had chance to catch up much today, but honestly what is this deal with people stockpiling bog roll? Surely in a time of crisis you'd be stockpiling food and medication etc, but why specifically toilet paper? Am I seriously missing something here?

It is odd. In Italy they're dropping like flies. Both medical systems are pretty good. Something else must be happening.

I think the German system is one of the best in the world and also the Italian epidemic is much more localised (a version of Hubei I guess), but there are probably other factors too.

I suspect a mixture of demographics and case under reporting.  If a different strain had been detected I think it would have been announced by now.
