Just been on the phone to my son-in-law - he tells me ICU beds are filling up in Birmingham, but Worcestershire is still OK. He has also received information from a Doctor he knows in New York - according to him, they have run out of free ventilators in NY and have started putting two patients on each ventilator - sounds terrible there.

Got told today that our school will remain open. Staff will underlying health problems told to stay off work for 12 weeks.

Someone asked if we will be provided with any protection masks etc and was told no because anyone with symptoms, child or adult, would immediately sent home. 

The fact that most children are probably asymptomatic carriers seems to have passed them by.

I expect things to change when we start dropping like flies.

Do you have any outdoor space? Our school will be open next week with the potential for quite a significant attendance of children as well.

Our head intends to make use of the disrupted curriculum by spending as much time outdoors as possible with any children that turn up next week. At least then we'll be in fresh air!

Most cities worldwide have densely populated apartment blocks - evidence from China shows these are like cruise ships when it comes to spreading the virus. Most people in the UK are addicted to their houses and gardens - might (fingers crossed) make us less susceptible. Just a thought.

That's very much our intention next week onwards  As I work in Y5 and 6, it will be somewhat refreshing when I'm back at work and teaching without having SATs dictating my every move.

We do and luckily I'm the outdoor learning coordinator so I'll be spending lots of time outdoors. 

If we can somehow avoid the virus I think it will be much better mentally than being locked up at home. Difficult to think we'll avoid it but we'll just have to take our chances.

It will make a difference I think. In large apartment blocks you come close to other people even for collecting mail or every time you go out (not to mention the lifts). Our terraced houses, gardens and parks should help with social distancing.
