The Government may seem reluctant to enforce what is needed but the military will have been briefed and the plans drawn up to be called upon within 24 hours. 
If we continue to raid supermarkets and act irresponsibly these measures will be implemented and the government will have the perfect excuse to carry it out.

The government announcement is that schools are closed next week with the exception to pupils whose parents are key workers.  Key workers are a number of different people including staff working in education.  Please see the government list.


Lots of children may turn up on Monday, perhaps up to 200 pupils, so all staff need to be in on Monday.  If the number of children that turn up is low, we will review.


At 5pm this evening we will send an email to all staff detailing plans for next week, please read.


The plans will be fluid but all staff need to attend Monday.


Schools are staying open to safeguard pupils.

The die is cast now and we are probably heading for hundreds of deaths daily by the end of March. Hopefully we'll never reach the Italian daily numbers, but our high numbers could easily last longer due to the half measures.

 I caught this thing from the head (who's my age, said it was a "chest infection" and not to worry as she coughed all over) and it took just over a week to show symptoms. The head had had meetings with the "executive" head, who works 4 days a week at our school and 1 day a week at a school with confirmed Coronavirus.


I'd dismissed all of that as a coincidence (after all, it felt like a cold coming on and I've had dozens of those), but the cough is unusual and even though my sore throat is easing I haven't become snotty as I would with a cold. Whatever this is, it's not a run-of-the-mill winter cold.
