Trump is having a shocker this afternoon.  Fauci is back and at one point he made Trump look like a fool. He quickly had to backtrack and cover for Trump - clearly fearing he would be out of the door otherwise. It revolved around the malaria drug they are intending to test.

So a London hospital already declaring a critical incident. I suspect carnage this weekend as the dominos fall.

Went to the local shop (for local people).  to collects some stamps and a local paper for  elderly  parents who are isolating themselves . They are  now  enforcing  distancing.  They are limiting people in the shop to a certain level (one only goes in when one comes out.  Raj is also  actively  preventing hoarding.  One bog roll pack  per  person and they are refusing to let people buy daft quantities of anything else.

On the other side, they have a network of helpers in the village who are taking  'phone orders and arranging delivers for  older people who are quarantining them selves.  Local  / community   knowledge  ensures nobody  "takes the piss",

This is what has to happen.  A section of the community   can't be relied upon  to behave in a civilised way so  they must be prevented from allowing their damned selfish behaviour   from impacting on other, vulnerable people.

I think key workers (like the nurse in tears on the TV)  need to be issued with a special  pass  to make sure they get  a place in front of the idiots in the food queue - there must be a way to arrange this with the supermarket delivery network.

We are heading for a command economy IMHO out of necessity.   The free-market free-for-all is letting people down and will result in major problems in its own right if allowed to continue.  I  am prepared to bet a sizeable sum that a high proportion of the stuff that is currently being panic bought   will end  up in the wheelie bin

It's even worse, see my post above. This is the same hospital that the consultant had written about the huge preparations and ICU expansion.

Cheers to that as Beast would say.

Truly horrendous situation in Northwick Park Hospital...and total and utter respect to medical people putting their lives on the line literally... I am a life long opponent of the death penalty ....but might be willing to make an exception for Tim Martin and his utter nonsense encouraging people to go to his wretched pubs.

They kept using the word tsunami. We had the advantage of their early warning, but we keep ignoring it.

I'm starting to get emails from online retailers saying they can no longer guarantee delivery. The entire economic system is beginning to crumble. Truly historic.

Three things are certain now:

1) A lot of people are going to die in very short order

2) The parlous state of the NHS will finally become obvious to all but the most slow witted

2) HMG will do everything in its power to deflect responsibility for this

Maybe the rapidly developing tragedy, world wide, could mean the end of populist governments down the line...USA. Italy, Uk...? Desperately searching for something positive amidst an ocean of human misery and tragedy.

Hearing that Lockdown will be from Sunday. I could be wrong.

This would be a horrific error of judgement, giving every a chance for one last hurrah on Saturday night and Mothers day.

Lets see..
